MPC London is starting to unionize their comp department.  I doubt it will be too long before the rest of the departments follow.

Now I am curious if MPC will start to outsource more of their work to their other studios.

Yes of course but I pursue interesting work and am super excited by all that the new technologies have to offer.  I don't expect anyone else to though, and, the workplaces shouldn't wear the Dickensian as a badge of honour! Unfortunately I've been through facilities with cinematographers and the 3d and comp rooms are described as 'just workers'...

is anyone happy with current working conditions?

Yes i am happy.I say No to unreasonable overtime and valuing my life outside of work that I know I will never get back as I get older.

Edited:

Generally ,I will let myself in for crunch time for a week or two out of 6/8 months contract.
