Foam Tool/Dop Particles

Hi,
before trying to create your own awesome foam tool (like Alejandro's) try to play with assets that Houdini ships with. For example Whitewater tool which includes generation of foam, spray etc.

 

His tool seems to take advantage of Ocean Spectrum and Evaluate nodes. Based on attributes (velocity, cusp) he isolates ocean surface to use as emitter for particle system. Particles then may collide with SDF and are advected by vel. Both those fields are generated by Ocean Spectrum.

 

I read recently very interesting thesis about generating secondary water elements by Lukas Lundberg. You might find it useful.
