Amit
Hi : ) , I saw that the environment light is the new AO method for houdini since version 11. But i want it to create only the shadow of the occlusion not lit the scene with white color For final render i will create a different take but for testing i want to combined the AO on top of the main beauty render in a single render How to do that? Thanks !
anim
you can use Occlusion VOP in your shader and use as you want however using environment light in AO mode is preferred and easier on the other hand AO nowadays not necessary for realistic renders unless it's your artistic choice

f1480187
Plug it into Cf to understand what color information it outputs. In any existing shader you can multiply resulting color by occlusion. Effect is naturally weak, you may want to increase contrast. ao.hipnc Edited March 31, 2016 by f1480187
