prekabreki
Hi, I've been searching all over for a good solution to this problem. I'm fairly new to Houdini and I can't believe that this is a problem to begin with. So I'm trying to render a can with droplets on it, the can has a texture applied but the texture doesn't show up in the refractions and the transparency of the liquid. A picture of my problem can be seen below. As I'm used to renderers such as V-Ray and Arnold where this isn't a problem, I can't help but think I'm doing something wrong. Help please! Guest tar
Try enabling Faux Caustics under Opacity tab.

boby
Check if - you activated refraction in your shader (+ refract objects) - have a refract roughness < 1 - Are you using raytrace/PBR? - mantra>rendering>limits>refract limit >= 2 - can render visibility is * (not only primary) hope it helps ! loopyllama
It is tough to tell from the image. Another guess is that it has non-fresnel reflections at 100%, thus you would never see through the droplets. If that is the case, reduce the reflections and/or use fresnel on the reflections. prekabreki
Thanks guys for the suggestions. It started to work properly after I added a Caustic Light in the scene. Not sure why Faux Caustics didn't work, but I'm not gonna complain
fathom
i would just not have the water droplets cast shadows (remove them from the shadow mask of your lights).
