avivbarami
Hi, I'm looking for a way to create a 2 way interaction between a FEM object and a FLIP simulation. The feedback is on (and very high), the density of the FLIP is way higher than the the FEM object, and I tested with a range of particle separations. I found a thread from a couple of years ago: that suggests the usage of "Fluid Force" node, and it even has files attached, but I can't recreate this floating behavior in a new setup in H15. Am I missing something basic? I'd appreciate any light you guys can shed on this. Thanks.

avivbarami
Hi Atom, Thanks for commenting. I tried using the file from that thread, and switching over to FEM, but it looks like the FLIP just won't interact with the FEM object.. Is a 2 way interaction even possible..? Here's the modified scene in case someone want to take a look. ap_flip_tank_FEM.hipnc

Atom
In the example file, activate Collide with each component for the Solid Geometry sphere FEM object. I also increased the Uniform Divisions up to 60 from 30. This causes the object to collide and interact with the FLIP.
Tesla's fan
it's not works in my H15.0.
Atom
Here you go, I meant to attach the HIP file as well. Try this one on your system. ap_flip_tank_FEM.hipnc
Tesla's fan
he means fem object must floating on flip fluid
Atom
Ah, after playing around with this I get the impression that the FEM Solver can not do this at this time using H15. What would probably work is to write your FEM simulation out to disk as a bgeo.sc sequence then bring that back in as a rigid body. RBD objects seem to float just fine as long as you turn up Feedback Scale on the flip solver. ap_flip_bouancy_attempt.hipnc Edited April 22, 2016 by Atom
Tesla's fan
thanks. I just read the help and also realized it can not. hope H15.5 or
avivbarami
Thanks a lot for trying and for the idea, it may just work for what I need! +1 for hoping that they'll add this in a future release.
