How to make object change material from obne material to another?

In shop network> create a vopmaterial, go inside vopmaterial and create two surfacecolor nodes. now create a mix node and connect color channel of both surfacecolor nodes into input1 and input2 of mix node.

now for smooth transition create a ramp parameter and connect it to bias of mix node. and to output the result connect blend from mix node to Cf of surface_output node.

now adjust your ramp parameter:  ramp type to Spline Ramp(float) , keep only one point in your ramp. animate that point's value from 0 to 1 to get smooth transition of your material.
