art3mis
At $420 the i7-6800 is roughly 50% MORe expensive than the i7-6700 while the 860 is priced somewhere in between. If I'm trying to save a few $ on a custom build , should I just go with the cheapest i7, or is the i7-6800 worth the extra $? https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Dcomputers&field-keywords=Intel+Boxed+Core+I8

art3mis
Hi Marty Point taken. You are a valuable contributor to this forum and have already helped me immensely as a Houdini novice trying to absorb as much as possible. As a new member of this community I DO appreciate any and all feedback ! I've already mentioned as much in past responses ie but will try and be more consistent in my show of appreciation moving forward!
Guest tar
Cool - thanks! Even though the forum is free, the currency is gratitude The i7-6800K has 6 cores, whilst the other have 4 and/or is slower. These days there is no way I would recommend less cores.
