Atom
Hi All, I have a pyro sim and I thought I would try out the Alembic format for saving this. The result is shown in the viewport by the pyro_import node which contains two volumes, density and velocity. I choose File/Export/Alembic and select the pyro_import node for the Source Object Export path and the full frame range for my animation. I click Export and Houdini goes into sim cooking mode and takes a while. When I import the Alembic back into my scene I see nothing. I check the filesize and it is only 2K. I thought Alembic was a panacea, a cure for everything? Can Houdini store a pyro sim inside an Alembic file?
Guest tar
That export menu is just a shortcut to an Alembic ROP; you should convert volumes to VDB and write them in VDB format. 19 minutes ago, Atom said: I thought Alembic was a panacea, a cure for everything? Not at all. It has capabilities that are improved all the time.
