Yon
Are FEM/Cloth simulations used in combination with bullet sims for destruction work? For added bending/deforming. I was looking at DMM and saw you get really good flexing in the breaks, maybe FEM could do this? I have not encountered anyone using FEM and Bullet for destruction and am wondering if this is actually a technique Thanks
anthonymcgrath
i would imagine its very powerful if you can get it to work nicely as its all in one package but i haven't a clue myself sorry :/
Hokmah
Did you saw FEM masterclass? FEM Masterclass by SideFX at the end of this video around 1h he show a little example wih combining fem and cloth constrain. Show what would you like to achieve maybe.
ChargingImage
Does anyone did successful metal bending FEM test? I've tried what is around in forum, but without luck...

Theres different approaches for each of these. eg in Iron Man 3 theres a scene where some guy melts a steel column with his hand and it then sort of drops, bends and solidifies (inexplicably his clothes are fine)... anyway this was quite simply a bundle of blendshapes i believe - so theres different approaches not so much a one-stop solution for everything. cheers ant
ChargingImage
I'm mainly thinking about simple bending, with possible ripping. From I remember I had trouble with rest position not updating correctly. It was unstable or just wrong. But melting approach would be cool too. For the future. For the future. reet there is a PERFECT tutorial for this - check out Ben Watts 'melting an angel' tut on youtube - its about an hour long - soak it up but it'll give you pretty much everything you need to have a go at doing melting metal
