galagast
HOUDINI 12.5 HOUDINI 15.5 The Box's color was set using point attributes via the Color SOP -> {1,1,1}. The Grid is set to display a built-in checker texture (openGL display). Both scenes are set to No/Disable Lighting. Notice that H15 isn't showing full white. Does anyone know if there is a setting to completely see true/full unshaded colors in the viewport for Houdini 15? Adjusting gamma higher didn't really help, as it affected other colors. Can anyone also confirm this on their Houdini install? dchow1992
as a workaround you can put a white opengl constant shader on your object, I don't know why but it seems like the default opengl shader color is < 1 and is tinting the point color. edit* actually if you go to viewport display options > effects there is default open gl shader in the material section and it's (.4,.4,.4) so you can change it there instead Edited October 20, 2016 by dchow1992
catchyid
Hi Jeff, I am running Houdini 15.5 on Linux, when I did create your scene on my machine I got the same look you have, i.e. the one with grayish white box. However, I changed the default view port setting (see attached) such that the default diffuse color is 1,1,1 and I got a white box
galagast
@David: I was hoping to not eventually had to resort to that (oops didn't notice your latest edit) @Khaled: That solved the issue! Thank you! I never noticed that the display options had those parameters! (I also never really used the advanced viewport lighting that much) Thank you guys and cheers! galagast
I wonder what's the reason behind having a default diffuse not set to white.. Anyways, for reference, H12 did not have those options. H13 started to add those, and they did started out with white as defaults. HOUDINI 13 HOUDINI 14 HOUDINI 15 It's interesting to see that the defaults kept lowering on each version iteration.
