extending ground after Fx

Hi all,

I'm wondering how to nicely extend a flat surface (a ground for instance), after having made some Fx on just a little portion of that surface.

I get high poly density for working with VDBs, but I'd like to avoid to have that density over the entire surface, as it's only needed at a certain area.
