Bernard
Hello, In the Houdini product Family I see that Houdini Select has BASIC particles and Houdini MASTER has Advanced particles. What is the real difference between those two? (particle wise) Can you do more with Master? Thanks Bernard
michael
Select has only the particle SOP...where Master has POPs... the particle SOP is pretty good for lots of basic things but doesn't compare at all with POPs
nik
i may be wrong here, but if you put in some time you may be able to build a few of those POPs in VOPs as SOPs and use them in that context. i'm sure you could be able to get away with some of them. the pointSOP alone gives you some indication of what could be done. so if you just need good basic particles you may just get away with Select. just have a good look in apprentice and try things out. 3dBuzz also has some videos on particles and they are all done in SOPs, check it out.
