iamjaideep80
Hi Everybody, I am creating a custom panel to add my own scripts to it. It is very useful, but I don't know how to save the panel externally in a file. I know there is one option called "save panel to Hip", and i tested it by turning it off. But the panel remains only in the current sesssion. If i restart Houdini, it goes off. Or is there a method by which i can create the panel thru Script and run that script whenever i start Houdini. Plz tell me more. Thanking in advance. .............. Iamjaideep80
grasshopper
You can use the cuexport command in a textport to save out your panel. If you put the .cui file in your houdini?.?/custom folder it will be available to all your houdini sessions.
iamjaideep80
Hi grasshopper, Your trick worked! Thank u very much. I copied the cui file to custom folder and now I can load my custom panel evry time Houdini starts. But I don't know why there is no interface for loading and saving custom panels. But as far as it is working, No Probs. But, can u tell me, if it is a custom panel, "Idealy" ,it should be loaded from user pref folder, that is $HOME. Can we change the path? Any way, Thanks again. -------- iamjaideep80
edward
As mentioned on your cross-post on the main SESI forum, there *is* a UI for it. When you edit your panel, uncheck the checkbox at the top that says "Save to HIP file". As for the save location, it *should* be in $HOME/houdini8.0/custom.
