brucelay
Hi I know there are totally 2 types of renderers around. They are scanline renderer and raytracer. renderman is a kind of scanline renderer and mental ray is a kind of raytracer renderer. What about GPU's render? What kind of renderer is GPU types hardware rendering? please correct me if I make any mistakes! thanks!
edward
Someone please correct me, but I think prman/mentalray/mantra are all both scanline and ray tracing (ie. hybrid) renderers these days.

As for GPU I heard of Gelatto (for renderman) and I "think" that the newer versions of Mental Ray has some GPU acceleration. As for pure GPU, i think that any 3d game engine is as GPU renderer.
