sibarrick
Is anyone using the 64 bit Linux version of Houdini, is it stable? Does it fly? Is it worth using? Will there be a windows version? I would be interested in any feedback or opinions. Cheers

SvenP
Ive had some fun with 64 vs 32 bit Linux in the last some days and i will stay with 32 bit. On my system ( Athlon 64 3700 / ATI Radeon X 1600 / Ubuntu ) the only advantage is that mantra renders a tiny bit faster . Everything else get worse : - Houdini is less stable - After bootup on 32 bit my system uses 130 mb of my memory on 64 bit 240 mb and this is so in nearly all apps that they consume more mem - OpenGL performance is way worse on 64 bit . I know glxgears is not a benchmark but its the only thing were i have numbers . On 32 bit i get around 1600 fps on 64 bit around 1100 fps So i will stay on 32 bit Sven
