altbighead
Hello Everyone, I am rendering a AO pass and I am having some problem troubleshoting it. There are white spots around the area where several objects are touching .. here is my parameter values. Sampling Quality -256 Ray tracing bias -0.05 Maximun intersect dis -0.01 Please check the attachment.
stu
Try setting the bias to 0 and turning backface removal on for all of your objects. Your maximun intersect distance is very small - how big are the objects, in world units?
Jason
What's better than a bias setting of zero (which may well cause self-shadowing artifacts) is to build a second floor level - effectively add some thickness to the floor. So put a grid just below your floor level so that it lies at least a distance greater than your bias setting away. Also, your table and chairs need to be faceted - they are all shading with smoothed normals. The best thing to do here is to PolyBevel each piece with a thin bevel (you can add 3 iterations even) and then follow with a FacetSOP and Cusp it all. This will help with the broad faces not having smoothed normals as well providing a more realistic bevelled edge that can catch highlights. If you want to, upload your scene and we can help you mess with it:)
Jason
PS - an explanation for the white bits is that ambient light is entering from under the floor and spilling onto the inside of your room. All your walls and floor should have some thickness in order to prevent this.

You will have to regenerate shadow pass as well as AO pass .I already have a composting network that you can pipe in .
