parth
How can I export any kind of simulation or most importantly smoke simulation from Houdini to render in Arnold Maya?
evanrudefx
For smoke simulations you can save a vdb sequence. Arnold for maya has tools for loading in vdbs. htoa documentation has some information on that. https://docs.arnoldrenderer.com/display/A5AFHUG/Writing+Volumes+To+VDB For other simulations I guess just use an alembic rop to save out alembic files and load the abc's in maya. mangi
Hi "smoke simulation from Houdini to render in Arnold Maya" Well a really fast way to "render" in arnold ... You could use the Standin from MTOA. Export the Arnold "ASS" from Houdini HTOA then Create a MTOA "Standin" When you render in Arnold it will creates an an ass file anyway. so why bother doing it if you already have the sim in HOUDINI HTOA. Here is a really basic File I just experimented with. Mangi Volume_explosion_VDB_docs.0001.ass here is the ass file , You can just use the geo , but this has the options and lights inside, Cheers Again Mangi Edited December 21, 2018 by mangi
