H17 RS Noise problem on Strands/Fur

Recommended Posts

I have been bumping into this issue recurrently and can’t figure it out. Whenever I apply RS Noise on shader level to a deforming strand geometry (inputting a vertex attribute on the RS Noise Node and changing the source to “Vertex Attribute”), the deforming geo “swims” in the noise instead of the noise sticking to it. Here is what I have tried so far.

1. Disabling Automatic Attributes Extraction and writing my custom vertex attribute in.

2. Enabling Automatic Attributes Extraction and including a vertex attribute called “rest” in my geo. (Read somewhere RS knows to export this automatically).

This problem does not occur when the geo isn’t strands.

Hopefully someone can help. I have been scratching my head for weeks now…

Cheers,

Bruno
