Luxtrus
Hi guys, I have a problem with the splash for the water sim... It doesn't look realistic or even have that kind of particles like yours. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I'm new with Houdini. Thank you. Cheers
Andrea
Hi! To make it look realistic you need first of all to have a correct scene scale and a good amount of particles. I can't really tell from the render you posted but I guess from the radius of the flying blobs that your particle scale is really big compared to the fish. Bigger is the size of the fish and bigger is the amount of details you need to have to make it look good. There are several tricks to get more details on the water surface when you are meshing, but without enough particles you can't do much. How many particles do you have? I see that you have some waves on the surface of your ocean, which are really little compared to the fish and to the look of the splash. This makes the waves look even smaller and to be just ripples on the surface. Have you used one of the ocean tools from the shelf? If that's the case that you don't have a lot of particles: step 1 - more particles! You can do it by reducing the particles separation in the flip object. Of course there is a limit for the amount of particles that your computer can simulate. That's where the whitewater simulation comes in. This are just particles that are really cheap to simulate compared to the flip simulation and can increase a lot the details of your simulation/render.
