ofer
Hi! I created a simple rig for a character. The rig contains 6 chains, one for each leg (Its a bug). I used no kinematics, because i do not need any. After I set the capture regions, I packed the whole thing into a digital asset. It works fine, but when I transform the DA object, at the object level, the rigg is ruined. It seems like the mesh is moving, but the bones are not. I tried parenting the root of each chain to the bug's mesh, and vice versa, but it didn't work. I guess it is an easy to solve problem. Anyone knows? michael
without seeing the file I'd say... don't EVER transform an HDA using it's transform parameters toss down a null make it the parent of the rig promote the transform parameters use those to translate the rig... if that doesn't work maybe attach a version of your file... Wells
Hey ofer, It is hard to tell what the problem may be with out the file. If you post it I can figure it out pretty quickly since we've been working extensively with bones inside DA's for our characters. My initial thought is the hierarchy is incorrect, or you should be using the parameters you've promoted to move the bug in the DA and not the DA (subnet) itself. -Mark

ofer
OK, I added a null object, and parented all roots to it. This works fine if all of the mesh is rigged. But what if part of the mesh is not connected to any bone? I probably have to create bones for it too, right?
michael
if part of the mesh isn't captured by a bone then it's a good candidate to be a seperate object... can you describe the object, or show a pic...or attach a hip file...?
