Simply create in VEX Builder a displacement material, use the Waves Vop as input for P and you have a nice starting point. If you are intrested to see how this VOP does all the magic.. simply inspect it (press u) and have a look at the network. If you want to start from scratch start with a few sin, add, multiply and noise VOP's.
