Blend shape. Only the difference should move.

It is odd that I am having problem with this. I am sure there is something small I am missing somewhere.

I have an object that is being simmed with vellium. Post simulation I want to add some "dents" to it. What I would like is to soft transform a few verts on a copy of the initialisation pose and blend shape that "dent" in at the appropriate time.

What I am getting is the simmed geo is being fully transformed back to the initialisation pose with the bend in it. What I want is to have the blend shape added to the current animation of the sim.

I hope I am being clear.
