steve-o
I was wondering if anybody could shed some light on a good expression to change the point numbers of the sort sop upon the hitting of particles. I am trying to make a particle hit a grid and upon hitting the grid, an explosion of particles will come off the grid. To simplify, dust from bullets or missiles or whatever the case may be. This is all experimental and I am doing this to better understand and learn Houdini. I can get one particle to work but not on a multiple level. Any suggestions or help??? Attached is a hip file that may explain what I am doing. partcle_birthing_test.hip

GallenWolf
Hey steve-o, if the split pop doesn't work for you and you still want to birth from a grid how about using one particle system to act as the bounding system for another particle system? I've attached a simple example. Alvin selectPointsForBirthPOPs.hip

3__
also using groups if sending from one popnet to another... & don't forget the craters. b.t.w. its probably better to crater with sine & Cd in a point sop. -cpb partcleSpawn_newpOp.hipnc
