EzequielM
Hi everybody, i just wanted to ask a really specific thing: How many of you use virtual machines in production enviroments? This question hit me when i got my intuos3 working in a vmware server to run painter IX, X, photoshop cs2, cs3, sketchbook, etc, etc (aka: the only option i found to be able to run windows drawing apps in linux in an stable and "newest version" way, you all should know that wine is fine... but it is allways a bit behind) Ive been using photoshop and painter through vmware for about 2 months... and its really something! and i was wondering... is this a good practice? is this reliable? i know that virtual machines and getting more and more famous in development enviroments, but i didnt really read anything yet about artistic production enviroments using vm to run software from others os Of course... talking about 2d apps with no 3d at all.. you know... thanx! michael
I doubt it's the most common practice... I think it's much simpler for IT departments to just have a native machine (win or mac for photoshop for eg) than to deal with all the issues that come with virtual machines etc...
