cspears2002
ARGH! I'm using Houdini 9 Apprentice HD. I'm learning how to build a rollercoaster with an old tutorial. The colleague who gave it to me said it was written for Houdini 3-6. Anyway, I started with a polygonal box, which I extruded into the rough shape that I want for the rollercoaster's cars. Then I used the Polysplit SOP to split the car right down the middle. The tutorial calls for me to then select half of the car and blow it away with the Blast SOP. However, I can't seem to be able to select anything. I seem to be stuck in the Polysplit SOP even after I hit enter because I am still being prompted to pick edges to split. I tried just hitting the tab key and selecting the Blast SOP, but that just blows away the part of the car that was selected for the Polysplit SOP. What am I doing wrong? I attached the hipnc file of my scene. coaster_v02.hipnc
sibarrick
In H9 you need to reverse the order of the instructions, select the geometry first and then tab select the operator. Hopefully that will sort you out.
kubabuk
It was renamed to Delete (modify) in H9 but I use it only accidentally. I recommend Delete (attribute) - (old delete SOP which is much more flexible. kuba
digitallysane
I recommend Delete (attribute) - (old delete SOP which is much more flexible. And much slower. If all you want to do is to blindly delete some polys or points while box-modelling, Blast SOP is the way to go, as it is much faster.
