How to make wiresolver stronger?

I'm trying to build a wrecking ball sim and so far I have my chain working ok and my wall is ready to go. Problem is, the ball itself I cant get to hang on the end of the wire properly. I've tried using a spring constraint and a pin contraint, but it doesn't matter how dense or light I make the ball it just breaks the wiresolver and sends it into a frenzy.

Has anyone come up against this before?

Any help is appreciated :)

I hate to necromance an old thread, but it came up in my search for pretty much the exact question Steve had - i.e. basically how to set up a simple pendulum using wires (the Pendulum example michael pointed out only really uses pin constraints on two RBD objects, no wires).

So, quite simply, I want one RBD object hanging from another by a wire, such that the wire and RBD objects are affecting each other. If I WireGlueConstrain the wire tip to the object, then it doesn't seem to be affected by the wire, it just solves as if the wire wasn't there, while the wire stretches and flails about. If I constrain the object to the wire, then the wire solves as if the object wasn't there (i.e. doesn't get pulled down, etc.) How do I get them to affect each other as one would expect?
