Leobreakfast
Yo, I am about to embark on a voyage of creating some visuals to go with my music. I have already done a test with Houdini and Chops to create an animation that reacts to the music - http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=-iFxm5Qapag I want to do something quite similar to that although I would rather have something work in real time, so It can react straight to ,what is being played in a dj set, (I
malexander
You can use the AudioIn CHOP to pull a snippet of audio into CHOPs, and then use various filters to produce your animation. The trick is to use Time-Slice mode - it's a toggle on some CHOPs that allow them to work in realtime (some CHOPs don't need it because they work the same in realtime and in non-realtime). Before you start the project, you may want to make it easy on yourself and turn on "Enable Time Slice Flag when Creating CHOPs" in Edit->Preferences->Motion And Audio. To listen to realtime audio, the Audio panel has to be changed from Scrub mode to Realtime mode (Windows->Audio Panel). In order to cook, you need to be playing forwards. Other than that, it's pretty similar to working in CHOPs without Time Slicing.

rdg
so I can play a dj set and it react in time, rather than having to get a sound byte first? for real-time setups like you describe I guess Touch is the better solution: http://www.touch077.com/downloads/ Edited October 28, 2008 by rdg
