I have some ideas, but any extra suggestions on this topic will be very helpful. For example, I might go with the L-System approach but my L-System knowledge is not that good. I have looked into the L-Systems "Lightning" preset but it does not look like the thing I will be needing straight out of the box... so it will require some custom rules...
