Copying an object onto a non-flat primitive

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I have a non-flat primitive and i like to copy an object onto it such that it fills the primitive perfectly.

Can anyone help me out with this..?? I tried using Orient sop(a Digital Asset in houdini exchange) but since the object has more than one primitive,

it doesnt giving me the expected result. Please help me.

Cheers.

i assume you are talking about face primitives

what should we imagine by non-flat primitive? some n-gon whose points are anywhere in space? what would be the perfect fill then?

do you expect the object to deform to fill this primitive or just transform to average center and orient with normal to average plane to all points and scale such it touches maximum possible edges of the primitive?

what is the object you are copying like? is it planar or not?

ehm, some more info would be great, maybe picture of what are you trying to do

Hi,

first of all, sorry for failing to provide enough information.

In the hip file attached, i have a non-flat primitive(i dont know how else to name it).

I want the node named object to be copied onto it,such that the object should be resized to fit into the primitive and it also should be oriented in the primitive's direction.

Hope this will be useful to solve the problem.

Cheers
