frading
Has anyone tried mental ray or BMRT with houdini? is it easy to make them communicate? I'd be happy to have some clues about it... or could someone tell me about the efficiency of the mantra renderer? Actually I am looking for rendering some fog or transluence effects. I have seen in the tutorials that causics and global illumination are possible, so, this is quite good, but is the renderer as good as mental ray or renderman/bmrt? MG
Houdini's RenderMan pipeline works amazingly well with BMRT! Just get your environment variables right, compile all your (custom) shaders and set the RenderMan ROP in Houdini to PRMan 3.7 or lower. (Since BMRT was based on an older RiSpec).
