kgoossens
Hi everybody, I'm trying to add my own otl's to houdini using the "install digital asset lib" and setting it to "scanned otl directories" It works fine, the digital asset library is there, and it also shows up in the "operation type manager" under "scanned otl directories" But as soon I restart Houdini the otl's are no longer there. So right now I'm using the old Houdini method by using OPLibraries files to find the otls. But I would like to use the scanned otl system. And I have no clue what I could be doing wrong. edward
Personally, I think that "scanned otl directories" should NOT be available as an option as it just causes confusion. The "scanned otl directories" in the "operator type manager" lists the otl files found when scanning the directories in HOUDINI_OTLSCAN_PATH. When you're choosing "scanned otl directories" as an install location, it's just temporarily telling Houdini to treat the otl as if it was found during scanning. So when you restart Houdini, it won't be found since it's not in the HOUDINI_OTLSCAN_PATH. As I understand it, if you want to use the scanned otl system, then you should either be placing your otl files somewhere in HOUDINI_OTLSCAN_PATH, or appending HOUDINI_OTLSCAN_PATH with the directory containing your otl file.
