cspears2002
Hey, I'm starting work on my demo reel. My reel will include a number of stills. How long should I hold them for? I want to put title cards on my reel with my contact info. How long should I hold those? Thanks.
Allegro
Why not package a small throw-away portfolio with your reel rather than including it in the video? They can flip through it at their own pace.
Magnus Pettersson
How long or if you should have the stills in your demo reel depends a little on what you make your demo reel for. Is it for showing your a "generalist", or if you want to show something special talent that the pictures show (like your talent for making good composition, lightning moods, dynamic postures in a character, action, reaction, humor, orginality, render skills, if its "famous" pictures in the industry to show its you who made them etc etc). If your demo reel is going to be for searching job where most work will be having moving images like for movies or commercials etc i would leave out the stills and have them separate like Stephen said. It all depends what you plan to use your demo reel for Remember if its for job search, your as good as your worst clip, so the worst thing in your demo reel is defining how good you are! So rather have short kick ass demo reel, than everything you done if your job hunting =)
