dynamoanders
Hi Guys. I'm suupernew to Houdini, and so far I think it´s amazing (coming from Maya/3Ds MAX/RealFlow/Nuke etc). I was wondering how you would go about to get a initial velocity to an fluid created from an object in volume fluids? Also, is there a way to control where the fluid starts on an object? I know in Maya I would mask it with an ramp to tell it where to start? Thanks in advance //Anders
mawi
Add velocity vectors to your source and in the solver/sources set velocity type to point Velocity. Just remember to add velocity vectors before the node you are sourcing. initialVel.hip
dynamoanders
Aaah, sweet. I'm going to try it at once. Thanks for the fast reply and scene, awsome!

dynamoanders
Yep. I will do that. My first post here.. But will do that for shure. And, tried it and it worked like a charm with the velocity. I'm sitting and screaming of joy working with Houdini (when I'm not tearing the little hair I have left 'cause I'm used to different software)
dynamoanders
Ok, One more question. If I do want to add velocity, but without continous emitting from the object, just on the first frame, hence emitting "one" object with an initial velocity ? //Anders
stevenong
In the attached hip file by mawi, either keyframe or use an expression, for example, $FF < 3, in the Activation parameter of the sphere_object1_source DOP. This will set the sphere_object1 DOP object as a source for only one frame or in other words, set the Source Relationship for one frame then turn it off.
