papicrunch
Hello, I'm new in Houdini. I'don't understand what is the difference between build a shader into vex context and into shop context. someone can light me about that ? And what is the specific use of this two context ? thank you, Papi (sorry for my english)
edward
The vex context allows you to build a specific type of shader (eg. plastic). In the shop context, you then use the shaders created in the VEX context. eg. red plastic, blue plastic, etc. The shop nodes are then what get assigned to your objects. VOPs are basically nodes which allow you to visually build shaders that are traditionally done in code. So you have VOPs for VEX (Mantra) and VOPs for RSL (RenderMan). So once you have the shader code, the SHOP nodes say that you want to use this particular type of shader, with these values for its parameters.
