Stremik
In VEX Reference it said that this function is used to compute the dot product between the arguments. Somebody please tell me, what is this dot product and what is it for?
stevenong
Here are some webpages that'll help: http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/215...151/math3d.html http://freespace.virgin.net/hugo.elias/rou...tines/r_dot.htm I found them with a search engine using 'dot product+3d' as keywords. Quoting the Advanced Renderman Companion: "..dot product can be used to quickly test whether two vectors are perpendicular to each other..." "...dot product can be used to quickly determine if two vectors point roughly in the same direction or roughly oppositely."
danteA
and don't forget the recent discussion on the mailing list where the dot product returns the cosine of the angle between two normalized vectors.
