jumper
Hi, Just start looking at the single scatter on the mantrasurface shader that comes with H11. It is looking kind of weird (I am usindg attenuation in the sss scetion) - Am I missing something? Cheers! Stephen sssTeapot.hip
symek
Take a look at the Scattering Phase parameter on mantra surface.
smaugthewyrm
sssTeapot.hip ok, so my tweaks and the things i have noticed with houdini sss... 1st small models don't look as good. here i've increased size x10 next your poly conversion disconnected. 3rd, small details like the handle and spout need a higher quality setting (single layer scattering qual 10) lastly, the attenuation color makes lots of diff. using IPR, render, go to the mantra surface, sss attenuation color... click the white , then differ. levels of grey while watching the teapot cap. you will be able to see the interior 'shadow' depending on the color picked. then choose an attenuation color like 'blue' . you'll be back to the problems you had. note that the phase has been set back to zero. i have yet to see anyone really tackle houdini SSS comprehensively. cmiVFX did a mini-lesson and the mantra h11 masterclass touches on it briefly near the end.
