dangerweenie Posted July 26, 2011 Share Posted July 26, 2011 Hey, Has anyone installed the Houdini Help Server locally or on a network share, so that it can be accessed without first launching Houdini, or so that if you restart Houdini after a crash, it still uses the same port number in the URL? It has a section about setting up a help server. http://www.sidefx.com/docs/houdini11.0/help/central In my experience it has been very buggy and unreliable, though support has been working with us to improve it. That would work perfectly, but one of the things I'm trying to retain is the ability to click on the "launch" or "load" links on certain help pages, and have the respective scene open up in Houdini. When I try to do this with the online help, or even via the local help server (left behind from a previous instance of Houdini that was closed or had crashed), it doesn't work. This is actually the primary reason why I wanted to install a standalone help server here. I don't plan on adding any custom pages or modifications.
