magneto
Does SESI removes them from the software completely or just keep them around for backwards compatibility, but with no other way of accessing/creating them in the newer version, even with scripting? I was reading this thread and wondered: http://www.sidefx.com/index.php?option=com_forum&Itemid=172&page=viewtopic&t=24040
ehsan parizi
I think what happened is that in H11, they made the "Mantra Surface Shader", which is an All Singing and Dancing kinda shader, and got rid of all those shaders. The thing is, these are all written in VEX. so you can make your own shader, and I think if you copy a shader from an older version to H11, it will work perfectly. But they never remove existing SOPs, POPs, DOPs? Because if they do, you can also do the same SOP, POP,etc yourself, right? Is this the general idea when removing features? symek
Usually they hide such operator from the menu, but it's still there, so once hip will ask for it, it will be created. Check out ophide in texport for a list of depreciated nodes still present in Houdini.
