How to extract shadow info in PBR rendering

Hey, guys,

Nice day!

What I want to do is compositing the shadow directly onto the background plate at the rendering time, pretty much like what "use background" shader does in maya, the problem here for me is in PBR mode, I do not know the way to extract the components of shadow in vops so that I could modify it and feed it as final rendering result without other information like diffuse, reflection, etc. I know it could be extracted via image plane, but is there any way to extract it and render it out only directly at the rendering time?

Best regards.

On the Mantra ROP output tab there's a section for exporting extra planes (variables, AOV, whatever you want to call it) and one of the presets is for direct or indirect shadows. If I recall correctly this only works with PBR renderer and EXR output. If you want all shadows just combine to direct and indirect in the composite.
