David Gary
Hi. I'm quite new to Linux (practically but not theoreticaly). I've got Houdini Apprentice on winXP, but i have problems with installing Houdini Apprentice on Linux Mandrake 9.2: in fact, it's a license problem. I cannot change my server name (which defaults to 'localhost'), and when i send it to the sidefx site to get a NC license ( i need to manually enter keys because i've got no internet connexion on Linux) , they tell me that it is not a valid server name. What can I do? I really want to use the scriptability and interprocess-communication facilities of Linux with Houdini ( using Gimp in COPs, usinbg Unix SOP, using c-shell, etc.) Any help appreciated
hoknamahn
It's a simple. Just edit your /etc/hosts file For example: 127.0.0.1 localhost 192.168.0.5 station_name where station_name - name of your machine.
