maya>houdini

Hi guys

i started learning 3D with maya software now am learining Houdini

can any one help me how can i integrate both the softwares and in what situation i should

try to integrate between these to softwares ,

and it would be a great help if any body guides me to the tutorials for maya and houdini integration

vlad yudin did write rpc to implement reconstruction of meshes from maya to houdini and transferring animation from houdini - maya or maya - houdini.

But few tells that alembic is the right way to transfer data

I guess it depends on each individual project.

I have been dealling with this for many years, well if you have a 3d application and need the information from another 3d package.

First question what are you going to deal with

Camaras, meshes , aniamtion . ect..

Second where it start and where it ends up.

Third which program will deal with this better.

The animations are almost always done in MAYA, Example if you have a character and want to to do something with just part of it are going to export the whole thing, maybe you don´t need to

Where is the final render going to be , or are you going to mix renders and the comp it in nuke.

Your question is really big

But it really seem to me that the industry is trying to make a global solution, I am really impressed with the speed of ALEMBIC

Heres a little thing that I just did to use a special render,
