Macha
Why does the gas wavelets microsolver scale its results? It looks like it creates an octree of its results in a field. Edited June 26, 2012 by Macha
bunker
You need a setup with two Gas_Wavelet nodes, like in the gas_upres eg: 1 - gas match field : Wavelet > Density 2 - gas wavelet : Wavelet > Density ( Transform ) 3 - gas wavelet : Wavelet > Wavelet ( Extract Component ) try to change Level and Components ... Why does the gas wavelets microsolver scale its results? It looks like it creates an octree of its results in a field.
Macha
Cool, and volume border type has to be set to constant. So, now, what do we do with it! Maybe we could mask out by frequencies if we had a little more interesting wavelets than the box shaped Haar. Man, Julien, I wish I could watch over your shoulder one day! mrWolf
Hi guys, sorry to reopen this old thread, i hope someone is still listening I am trying to upres a cloud sim using "gas wavelet". I am not using Pyro or Smoke. I create my cloud using a poly geometry and the "cloud sop". I created a velocity field matching the cloud , to add some turbulence and created a simple dop network where I am advecting ("gas advect field") the density with that velocity and removed the divergent component of the velocity field ("Gas Project Non Divergent Multigrid"). Everything works fine, and I like the sim. What i don't like is that the simulation is smearing / smoothin out all the cloud features. I'd like to know how to re-insert some of those details using, if I well understood its purpose, "gas wavelet" dop. I tried to apply what Julien explained in the previous post: - i created a field "wavelet" (float) matching "density" using "gas match field" dop - i created 1 "gas wavelet" dop : dest field="wavelet", source field="density", mode="transform" , everything else default (Haar, Max Passes, Level, Component = 1,0,0) - i created 1 "gas wavelet" dop : dest field="wavelet", source field="wavelet", mode="extract component" , everything else default (Haar, Max Passes, Level, Component = 1,0,0) I am not sure what I have to do next I am not even sure if a density and a velocity fields are enough to create my wavelet up-resing. I know, i should study the paper about wavelets written in 2012, but honestly i didn't undertand much.. I checked the example files included with the documentation about the upres dop node, but they all refer to "Pyro" or "Smoke". I didn't find a way to upres a generic volume sim. Can anyone help me here ?
