Jason
Hi again, I'd love to know what people believe is most needed in Houdini 5's character toolset. By finding out out what holes there are, maybe we can come up with some solutions.. I'll go first: - IK orientation and position constraints. - VEX access to weighting information. What do you think? plan9
- VEX access to weighting information. this would be very cool indeed!
TheUsualAlex
Hi Jason, Now that you've mentioned about hole that's needed to be plug, well, after testing out some of the rigging techniques, I can't seem to think of any at the moment other thank Positional/Orientational Constrains (Argh. I think I've been crying for a much better ability of IK/FK switching for a bit now. ) I tested the set-driven key-equivalent blendshaping technique to control character topology and deformation, Houdini has been working out quite well. So I think I am sufficiently confident to rig a character in Houdini now after giving it a few more tries. After adding my own custom expression function to control the Blend. Whew. Houdini's awesome. Since I have no knowledge in VEX at the moment. Point Weight querying sounds like a very important step as well. So I will definitely take your word for it and learn about it in the near future.
