stopa
Hi all, As a total houdini newbie , I have a problem with exporting particles. After doing some experiments with popnetwork, I would like to export my work to 3ds max and render with krakatoa. After some search I know that this is possible to do with Realflow plugin, but I don't know how. I tried to connect realflow nodes to popnetwork, but after clicking render nothing happens. I would be very grateful, if someone could explain me how to do it.
lukeiamyourfather
Check out the documentation that comes with the RealFlow plugins, they cover everything you need to know. You could also use Alembic if Max supports it or write your own file format with Python.

I'm doing everything according to the documentation (add RF particles export node, select the output file and SOP path, I leave Particle File tab with default options) and after clicking render button nothing happen. Guest xionmark
Which version of Houdini are you using? Which operating system? Are these the plugins from Next Limit or are they from Digital Cinema Arts (http://www.digitalcinemaarts.com/software/real-flow-plugins/)? --Mark

lukeiamyourfather
I am using Houdini 12 for windows. I am using plugin from NextLimit site. If you use the Houdini File SOP or a ROP to write out the cache does that work? It might not be something with the plugins but something with the network leading up to the plugins. Guest xionmark
Hmmm ... I downloaded the latest rf plugins from Next Limit but got this: Houdini DSO error on '/opt/hfs/houdini/dso/ROP_RF_Sd_Export.so' Compiler incompatibility detected. gcc compiler versions below 4.3 are not compatible with gcc compiler versions 4.3 or above. Guest xionmark
Of course I can : http://www.filedropper.com/untitled_15 There's not much to your example, a single pop op and an rf export node, thus it's hard for us to help. --Mark

Guest xionmark
Both of those file formats are points/particles only, no mesh. partio is very nice though.

Guest xionmark
The h2k won't work for H12 until the code is updated. The partio code has to be built into a SOP ... RFE for SESI maybe? --Mark
