magneto
Hi, I am trying to understand what Volume Splice SOP does, but I don't see any difference when it's applied. I read the help card, and assumed it collapses several volumes into one but it doesn't seem to do that. I also searched the forums but couldn't find anything. Can someone please tell me what it does exactly? Thanks
edward
My reading of it (haven't tried) is that the purpose of the SOP is to merge several non-overlapping volumes into a single one. It mentions distributed simulation. In those cases, you take a large volume, cut it into multiple pieces, and have a separate machine simulate on each piece. Once you've simulated all the separate volumes, you need a way to combine them back together into the original large volume. I think the Volume Splice is what's used to combine them back together.
magneto
Thanks Edward, that makes a lot of sense. I didn't think of that.
