Peony
Hi everyone! Trying to create ripples on a grid using curve clay + series of scaled profiles/curves on surface. Only problem is that the curveclay affects all of the profiles equally + i would like the effect to die off the larger the profile is (just like ripples)... any suggestions? (other than having to use a seperate curveclay for each profile...) Figured this was more of a modelling question than effects.... as doesn't really involve particles.... DaJuice
I'm not sure what you're ultimately going for, but why not use the VEX Ripple SOP?
Peony
I need to be able to control the shape of the ripples using a profile, so i don't think i can use this...
Jason
Try and use the Wire Deformer instead of the CurveClay? or the LatticeSOP in points mode?
exel
Hi kukkie-- Here's a quick example of animated ripples using curveclay -- there's a few expressions and channel references in there, but it was just to make the animated series of profile curves... Hope this helps! curveclay_ripple.hip.tgz
michael
there was a 3D Buzz VTM included on a 3D World cover disk a few months back that had a VOPs tutorial that did rain drops/ripples...
Peony
Hi guys! thanks for all the suggestions, haven't had a chance to look at the file yet but will do. Have tried to go down the wire deformer route but didn't think it was what i want as it's just deforming across a surface in u. However it is capturing the areas i want to displace so i've controlled the displacement by the colour of the capture regions....don't think it's going to be useful for ripples... may need to resort to particles after all (!) but produced an interesting effect... kel.hip.gz
