Nightwave
Hello, Been working on an flame dynamic effect for a while to no avail... Basically what I am trying to do is have a tree mesh catch on fire at one area and spread around to the rest of the mesh. I have tried a lot of different ways, but none seem to be working right. All I think that I need to do is have one simulation with a small ignition source and transfer that temperature to another simulation where the tree is the fuel and is just sitting there waiting to catch fire. Have any idea abouty how to go about doing that? Thanks!!
foam
You could try transferring temperature by keeping the value from the last frame. Hope the file helps. fire_propogate_spread_v01.hip
woodenduck
Set the whole tree mesh to be the fuel and create a smaller volume in a specific location to be the temperature. Run them both through the same sim and let nature take it's course! burningTree.hip Edited November 11, 2013 by woodenduck
Skybar
If you turn the whole tree into fuel, you could do something like this if you want more control. Right now it's just an animated ramp along Y, but I guess you could do whatever you want to spread the color in fancy ways. burningTree_dv.hipnc
Nightwave
Thanks for the replies!! foam, tried yours out but for some reason whenever I placed the tree geometry in your system is just failed... Not sure why it was doing that.... woodenduck, your system worked perfectly! Finally, after like 10 different setups, one works! Skybar, That system looks really good for control! I am definately going to mess with that to see if I can get some good results! Thanks so much guys! You're a big help. Been fighting this one for a while....
