kleer001
I've got my eyes on a 3D printing project that I want to do. I want to procedurally generate a bunch of colored shapes and have them available for print in colored sandstone over at Shapeways. Thing is Houdini's vrml export version is probably outdated and anyways is not supported by Shapeways. I tried What I'm thinking is that in the end I'll have to write out a test case and then swap out the vertex information and texture information in the model file its self. edward
I think .stl is probably the best bet. See this thread: http://www.sidefx.com/index.php?option=com_forum&Itemid=172&page=viewtopic&p=131858&sid=77b51ba4b70a24bb28d54a963f532676
0rr
we are doing alot of 3d printing form houdini lately. I am not sure about shapeways but the design guide over at i.materalize for colored objects can be seen here http://i.materialise.com/materials/multicolor/design-guide . At the bottom it mentions that you can even use .obj with a texture grouped in a zip-file.
