lisux
Hi all, i'm testing the 6.5 version under linux. I've tried to use the houdini display driver for prman in order to preview some renderman shaders in the shaders viewer and to render into mplay. I've used the proto_install.sh and installs the RenderMan driver in my home. I've updated my &HOME/rendermn.ini to point to the new drivers. But when i restart houdini i get and error that the hodini driver is not propper installed, and when i render a simple scene, changing the displey to houdini, mplay is launched but nothing is rendered. Anybody had could install the houdini display driver for prman?? I'm using prman 11.0. Thanks
edward
Is prman in some directory that is in your PATH environment variable?
lisux
Yes prman is in my PATH enviroment variable. If i execute in the texport: ->unix prman [some rib scene] it is rendered perfectly, so if i can call prman fron the textport, prman is in the PATH for houdini. I can change the display in a rib to mdisplay or houdini and when i try to render the rib with prman fron the command line i get a segmentation fault in the case of houdini display, and nothing is rendered in the case of mdisplay. i have the drivers installed in: $HOME/houdini6/ri_shaders/, and in my $HOME/rendermn.ini i have the path for the new dso in order that prman can use them. Any clues???? Thanks
edward
You mean $HOME/houdini6.5/ri_shaders right? Run proto_install and re-install the renderman display driver anyhow. Also check to see "render" is in your path.
davo
did you ever get this resolved as i am having the same problem....?
lisux
Whooa, the houdini display driver now works! I think that the problem is the version of the linix OS. Now i'm using Red Hat 9.0, i suppose that with 7.3 and 8.0 there wouldn't be any problem, before i've using Debian testing. With RH i simply run proto_install, install the driver in a directory pointed bi the enviroment variables HOUDINI_PATH and that's all! It's great to see prman rendering on mplay I don't like It, so using mplay is nice
