Nicholas Yiallouris
I have a bunch of modelled objects that I brought into Houdini and I want to scatter the different objects over a floor for interaction. The way I'm currently doing it is to object merge each piece individually then create a group for each piece before adding them as a fractured RBD. I know there's a smarter way to do this, perhaps using a partition or for each? How would I distinguish between each piece of geo. The only way I can select each individual piece of geo in the viewport is to choose primitives with select "select connected geometry" checked. Hudson
if you want to select each object or piece you coud make a connectivity->partition->foreach combo and create a group for each piece. See the provided file This will work unless you want to move one object that contains several pieces. For that you will have to modify it a bit. scatterStuff.hipnc
Nicholas Yiallouris
Cool thanks There's also check box in the object merge that splits all your objects into groups , then you can add a for each after that and a copy stamp to vary the objects over the grid Edited February 27, 2014 by NicY

Nicholas Yiallouris
yea that only works if you have multiple different merges in your object merge but your method works well when you have one object merged. ... not sure that makes sense
